STC, or Saudi Telecom Company, is Saudi Arabia’s largest and most trusted mobile network. It provides the widest coverage in the Kingdom including rural villages, highways, and remote areas that other networks do not always reach. STC also operates the Jawwy digital brand separately. If you have a Jawwy SIM, see the Jawwy balance check guide instead, as Jawwy has no USSD codes.

STC Balance Check Code: The Quickest Method

USSD codes are the fastest way to check your STC Sawa balance. They work on any phone, with or without a data connection.

1

Open dial pad

Go to your phone’s default dialler app.

2

Dial *166#

Type *166# and press the call button.

3

Read the result

Credit balance and SIM validity date appear on screen.

4

No charge applied

The code is free every time. No credit deducted.

The STC Sawa balance check result shows your main credit in Saudi Riyals. If your account has bonus credit from a recharge promotion, it may appear separately from your regular balance. The *166# code is the same for all STC prepaid Sawa users across Saudi Arabia, whether in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah, or Madinah.

Tip

STC is the most reliable network for coverage in remote areas of Saudi Arabia. If you are travelling outside major cities, STC gives you the best chance of maintaining signal for balance checks and calls.

How to Check STC Data Balance

Your STC internet balance is separate from your credit balance. Knowing how to check STC data balance is just as important as checking your credit, especially if you rely on mobile internet for navigation, video calls, or work apps.

Check STC Data Balance by USSD Code

1

Open dial pad

Go to your phone’s default dialler app.

2

Dial *8885#

Type *8885# and press call.

3

Read the result

Remaining data, package name, and data expiry appear on screen.

The result shows all active internet packages. If you have more than one active data package for example a monthly package and a promotional bonus bundle both appear separately. This is the standard STC internet balance check code used by all Sawa prepaid users.

Check STC Data Balance by SMS

To check your STC data balance without dialling a code, send 2220 as a text message to 900. STC will reply with your remaining data, active package, and expiry date. This SMS method is free and gives you a written record in your message thread.

What the STC Data Balance Result Shows

STC data packages sometimes include separate allocations for regular internet, social media, and night internet. If your package has these categories, the result shows each one individually. The night data allowance typically applies between midnight and 6am. Using all of your regular data does not affect your social media or night data allocation and vice versa.

How to Check STC Balance by SMS

The STC balance check without internet is possible through SMS. This is useful when your USSD code is not responding or when you prefer a written confirmation.

1

Open messages

Open your phone’s messaging app.

2

Send Balance to 900

Type 166 as the message. Send to 900. Free.

3

Read STC reply

STC replies with your credit balance and validity date.

For STC data balance by SMS, send 2220 to 900. Both services are free for STC Sawa users. The SMS method works even when USSD services are experiencing temporary issues on the network.

How to Check STC Balance Using the MySTC App

The MySTC app is the most complete tool for managing your STC account. It shows your credit balance, remaining data, active packages, usage history, and more.

1

Download MySTC

Get MySTC from App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Free.

2

Open the app and log in with your STC mobile number.

3

View dashboard

Balance and package details appear on the home screen immediately.

The MySTC app works on any internet connection including Wi-Fi abroad, making it the correct method to check your STC balance from outside Saudi Arabia. The app also lets you recharge your SIM, purchase new data packages, transfer balance to another STC number, and activate or deactivate services all without calling customer service.

Tip

Log in to the MySTC app before you travel abroad. Your session will stay active so you can check your balance over Wi-Fi from any country without needing to re-verify through a Saudi number.

How to Check STC Balance for Tourist SIM

STC sells tourist prepaid SIMs at Saudi airports and major retail locations. These SIMs use a different balance check code from the regular Sawa prepaid service.

1

Open dial pad

Go to your phone’s default dialler app.

2

Dial *100#

Type *100# and press call. Tourist SIM only, not Sawa.

3

Read the result

Tourist SIM credit balance and validity appear on screen.

Tourist and visitor SIM validity depends on the package you buy. STC visitor packages last from 2 to 4 weeks. Check your exact expiry date in the MySTC app or by calling 900. To extend validity, recharge the SIM before the expiry date. You can also check the data balance of a tourist SIM by sending 2220 to 900.

How to Find Your STC SIM Number

If you have forgotten your own STC mobile number, dial *150# and press call. Your STC SIM number appears on screen immediately and no credit is deducted.

You can also find your STC number in the MySTC app under your account profile. The “please call me” code *177*NUMBER# (replacing NUMBER with a friend’s number) also displays your STC number on the recipient’s screen when they receive the callback request.

Transferred credit does not extend the validity of the receiving number.

How to Check STC Balance from Outside Saudi Arabia

The STC balance check code *166# does not work outside Saudi Arabia. When you are in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, or any other country, your phone uses a local roaming network and Saudi USSD sessions cannot complete. This is a common issue for expat workers who travel home and need to monitor their Saudi SIM.

  • MySTC app over Wi-Fi: The app shows your full balance and data from any Wi-Fi connection. This is the most reliable method.
  • Send SMS over Wi-Fi: Some messaging apps support SMS via Wi-Fi calling. Send Balance to 900 if your phone supports this feature.
  • MySTC website: Visit my.stc.com.sa from any browser and log in to your account to see your balance.

Note

STC Sawa prepaid SIMs have a grace period after the balance expires. During this period you can receive calls but cannot make outgoing calls or use data. Recharge through the app or a third-party platform before the grace period ends to keep your number active.
